Pledge to clean granite?

Hi - I just read on my can of Pledge that it can be used on Granite. Have you had any experience with this? Thanks so much!!

Dear John:

Luckily, I never had any direct experience with that stuff. However, I have received plenty of queries from desperate consumers asking me how to get rid of the gunk that will inevitably get deeply absorbed by most “granites” over frequent use of that product as a “cleaner”. It is not a cleaning product to begin with (just a “beautifier” – whatever that means – for finished wood), and it's an mix of very thin oils and waxes. Now you tell me if you want to “clean” your countertop with that product.
