Limestone

Q. So sorry to post this, but keep seeing contradictory responses to limestone. We have both Crema Europa (honed, not polished-needless to say I believe-on shower walls, bathroom floor and tub deck) and Florida Tile Pietra Art Ocean Life (on the shower floor only, 4 x 4's and they are tumbled). Both are in new bathroom installs and not grouted, yet. Previously, you all had supplied answers to the effect that we "should never seal in a wet environment". We tested our water and soap, shampoo, and conditioner products on this tile and the water itself was not a problem and did not leave any stains. However, at least 2/3 of the soap product stuff did leave a stain on the unsealed sample piece. Well... (1) if that wet environment contains bath products that obviously stain unsealed stone, then should we seal? It seems of benefit...? (2) And, if so, then should we seal the limestone prior to grouting or afterward (the grout is Spectra brand, an epoxy/stain resistance grout)? (3) If we should seal, then what product is recommended for limestone, please? I have actually tried to pull up your pay-par-download manual/stone care guide, but your website directs me to an error page every time. If you all can help I would be forever grateful! Thank in advance-Kitt

A. Yes, you should seal the stone. Grout first, then seal. MB Stonecare MB4 would be a good choice if you choose to seal it yourself. You can see the stone care guide here: www.stoneandtilepros.com/care-guide.pdf
