polished african blonde granite countertop

Q. We are installing a polished, African Blonde countertop in our master bathroom....do we need to apply any sealer or impregnator?? If so, what type do you recommend?? Thanks! Susanne

A. First, I am going to recommend that you download and read The Stone Care Guide. It will give you a wealth of information in addition to how to determine if your stone should be sealed.

Your polished marble in a bathroom probably does not need to be sealed. However, if after spilling some water on it and waiting a few minutes you notice the marble darkened where it was wet, you will want to apply a good impregnating sealer (MB Stonecare MB-4) being very careful to follow the directions carefully and make sure no sealer is left on the surface.

Then, most importantly, be sure to clean your marble with stone safe cleaners. We recommend MB Stonecare MB-5. If you have a mirror over the countertops, clean it with the same cleaner to avoid overspray from causing any damage.

Enjoy your stone!
