Granite tiles sealing

Is it necessary to seal the underside of granite tiles before intallation? My experience is that the thinset shows through after installation so I am hoping sealing the underside will address this.

Dear Gennadiy:

"Is it necessary to seal the underside of granite tiles before intallation? "

No, not only is it no necessary, but plain silly, as well... :-)

" I am hoping sealing the underside will address this."

No it will not. Even the best impregnator will let the moisture of the setting material through. Impregnators only give you reaction time, never 100% sealing.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?   :-)

Ciao and good luck,

Maurizio Bertoli
