Black Granite (not solid black) Countertop Damage

Help! Strawberries were sitting on counter, juice ran down from back to over the edge overnight. Area is now grayish....I tried a dark granite polishing powder, did not work. What can I / should I do?

I would exclude malicious doctoring of the stone, because the polishing powder would have made matters worse.

So, I must assume that, not only is it not granite (well, that's no brainer, so far: No black granite is ever even close to true geological granite), but it also does not behave like a mercantile granite should: a mild acid like strawbery juice should not affect it one bit, no matter how long it's been sitting on the stone. In conclusion it may be one of those "mutt" stones with acid sentive minerals in it.

A bona fide stone restoration contractor should be able to fix it, but it will happen again, and again, and again...

Selling stones like that as granite is major-league consumer fraud.
