Gallo Veneziano Granite

I have had my countertops for aroung a year. There are several "rough" areas in the granite, not smooth like many of my friends have. Often when I clean, I will go over an area multiple times thinking there is still something on it, only to find it is one of those rough spots. THe contractor told me it is the nature of that stone, but I want to know if there is anthing I can do to resurface or polish it to make it smoother.

Dear Lezlie:

Only a proficient stone restoration contractor familiar with the use of CA glue (cyanoacrylate, a.k.a. superglue) could solve your problem permanently. But consider yourself really lucky if you can find one: I don't think that there are more than a dozen of those throughout the entire country!

As a second best, DIY solution, you could rub a stick of paraffin wax on the rough spots and then buff the residue from the surface of the stone using a “00” steel wool pad. (You will need some serious elbow-grease… J ) You do understand that's only a temporary fix that will need to be repeated periodically, but it's better than nothing…

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
