Polished Negro Marquina Vanity top

I have the above in my bathroom and it has a slight white spray mark that will not come off. it looks as if it was being cleaned but the spray mark will not wipe off. I believe that it may have been cleaned with vinegar and water. Any suggestions on repairing and do you have a good cleaning product for it? thank you Donna

Dear Donna:

Do you think it would be possible to take a scratch out with a cleaning product?

The water and vinegar concoction (or whatever was used to “clean” your marble) has etched the surface of the stone permanently (it's a mark of corrosion – like a shallow, wide chemical scratch).

If the etch-mark that you have is limited in size, you should be able to fix the damage with a good quality Marble Repair Kit. But if it is a little bit all over, then your only option is to hire a proven stone restoration contractor.
