cracked marble bathroom sinks |
Article Number: 1117 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Wed, Jan 30, 2008 at 12:00 AM |
Fratello Maurizio: I bought two custom made marble bowl sinks from Mexico. after unpacking them, I noticed there is a hairline crack in one bowl. When I tap it with my knuckle it has a distinct dead sound, unlike the intact bowl that has a china ring to it. Can this be sealed to prevent leaks? Will it leak? I have yet to test it with water. If there is a product out there that you know of that can prevent it from leaking, please let me know. I don't care if it changes the sheen of the finish. In fact, I would not mind if it brought the colors out a bit. Grazie mille, Piasan Vic
Dear Vic:
“
Can this be sealed to prevent leaks?
”
Considering how tight the crack is, only by using CA glue (Cyanoacrylate, a.k.a. superglue). But it is not, by far, a DIY project. Consider yourself lucky if you can find a stone restoration contractor in your neck of the woods that can do that. You can check this list:

“
Will it leak?
”
Your guess is just as good as mine. One thing is for sure: I wouldn't bet the house that it won't!
May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at:

Ciao and good luck,
Mauri
