Use of MB-4

What preparation if any is needed to apply MB-4 to stone already sealed (unsuccessfully) with Stone Tech Impregnator Pro Sealer?

Dear Linda:

Unfortunately there's no sure answer.

Applying an impregnating sealer to a stone where there's already an impregnator of a different make is always a chancy proposition. And the chance is that there's no guarantee that the new impregnator will be able to perform at its best.

Taking the current impregnator out?

It's easier said than done, alas. In fact we're not dealing with a topical sealer that you can strip and that you can see when it's totally gone; we're rather dealing with an invisible, below-surface type of sealer. The fact that's below surface makes its removal problematic to begin with; plus you will never know if it is totally gone or not.

That duly said, MB-4 might just work; but, like I said, there's no guarantee.

I'm sure you can appreciate my candor.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
