Travertine - treatment when covered in ice |
Article Number: 1019 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Wed, Jan 9, 2008 at 12:00 AM |
I have recently installed Travertine paving outside my house (much admired), and whilst the 'slippage' factor when wet is not too much of a concern (I keep reminding people that it also rains in Rome!), I am alarmed at just how slippy the Travertine gets when icy. I have held back from applying any treatments other than sand, but can you advise if there is anything available to apply when conditions are icy ?
Dear Peter:
I don't know you from Adam, but I like you already!!

With that “whilst” thing you must be form the other side of the pond, right?...
I wouldn't know of any safe chemical treatment to prevent ice accumulation on travertine. I would just stick to sand: the coarser the better.
May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at:

Ciao and good luck,
