Restoring finish to marble shower surround

I used a Lysol foam bathromm cleaner product on my darj marble shower surround. The product was rated for tile but it left the marble with a dull streaked finish. Is there a product I can use to restore the finish to the marble? My wife will kill me if I don't fix this problem. Thanks in advance for your help.

Dear Ellis:

I wish it were that easy!

Nothing coming in a bottle will ever help you with your problem. What you have is a severe etching of the surface of your marble tiles and only a proven stone restoration professional will be able to bring them back to their pristine state.

You may want to check our roster of supporters at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/supporters.htm and see if you can locate one in your area. If not, look in the Yellow Pages under the heading, “Marble and Terrazzo Cleaning”.

Hmmm… this sounds serious! Maybe you should ask the police to put you under protective custody or somethin'… J

Well, take her out to dinner to a fine restaurant, and with a smile in your face tell her what the solution is and that, after all, it's only money!

Of course, when everything is done and back to normal, you will get the right information about the proper care of your stone. (Hey, I've got an idea right now on how to handle this with your “ferocious” wife. Tell her the truth: the dealer who sold the marble to you and the setter who installed it in your home didn't give you the right intelligence about stone care – as they should have!... How would you know??... And you're on the clear!! J )
