Granite Odor

I just built a new house with granite counter tops throughout. No mater how much my wife cleans the kitchen, there is a musty smell that seems to be coming from the granite. It seems to be more noticible after they are washed. Have you ever ran across anything like this?

Quite frankly, no: I never even heard of something like that.
