Quartz-based engineered stone |
Article Number: 1338 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Mon, Mar 24, 2008 at 12:00 AM |
I know that quartz is not exactly "natural" stone, so I am wondering if it also needs to be sealed and if these products (MB) for countertops are also appropriate for quartz (silestone, leather finish). In the bathroom, I have something called "Basaltina", but I am not exactly sure what type of stone it is. I have the same question. Thanks.
Dear Patty:
Engineered stone does not take any sealer in, due to the percentage of epoxy keeping together the chips and grits of quartz (and whatever else), which makes it stain-resistant. In my opinion, it does still require the same routine case as natural stone.
So, I recommend MB-5 for routine cleaning.
As for Basaltina, it is brand name of a stone quarried in Italy that's plain basalt. It is extremely absorbent and therefore it should be sealed real well with a good quality stone impregnating sealer like MB-4. Aftger than MB-5 is all yopu will ever need for routine case.
May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at:

Ciao and good luck,
