granite countertop in kitchen getting darker

Hi, My granite countertops are all in great condition and have been "sealed" a couple of times. Just by looking at it, you cannot tell anything is wrong. It's when you move appliances off the countertop, you notice that the area I work on has turned darker and the area under the appliances is much lighter. What's going on and can I correct it?

I've seen and also heard of situation like yours. Nobody knows what could have possibly happened. On the other hand, nobody knows what kind of stone all these “granites” actually are. (You don't mention which “granite” you have.) Some of these stones seem to be affected by light and darken over time; hence, under the appliances the color remains unscathed. But no matter how sensible it may sound, it's only a (credible) speculation. To the best of my knowledge, there's no known cure for this phenomenon.
