Care of limestone shower |
Article Number: 1383 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Wed, Apr 16, 2008 at 12:00 AM |
Dear Maurizio,
I know you're not a big fan of limestone in bathrooms. I can't do anything about that - I bought a new condo with Jurastone Blue/Grey honed limestone everywhere in the master bath. The floors, shower walls and shower floor are all Jurastone blue/grey honed tiles (the shower floor tiles are 4x4 cuts of the larger 12x12 tiles). The vanity tops are Jurastone Blue/Grey honed slabs.
So, it's there, I have it, I've got to try to live with it...my question for you is - which of your products do you recommend for maintenance of this stone in this application?
Thanks!
By the way, just what is it about most limestones that make them so unsuitable for showers?
Dear
Craig:
Answering
your last question first, I think that Forrest Gump would say, “Like mama
always says, limestone is like a box of chocolate… You never know what you're
gonna get!”
On a more
serious note, by saying limestone you're saying very little – if anything at
all. There are many different (and I do mean
different) kinds of limestone that span from dense and acceptable
rocks, to limestone that will actually fall apart under running water or
“powder” or “bleach” (all problems with no solution), and everything in between.
And hence my lack of… enthusiasm about limestone in general. :-)
