bluestone wax marker removal

Hi Maurizio, We have but some bluestone (plum color) with the paver cutter saw and for marking the cuts we used red wax marker. Also we made some other marks thinking that the muriatic acid will remove the red wax marker. Well, it did not. We are not able to take off the wax markes with anything we have tried (even got the "magic eraser sponges"... Would you have any solution for this? Thank you very much! Monica

Dear Monica:

When I hear the words acid (and muriatic of all acids) and natural stone in the same sentence, I get goosebumps!… At any rate the damage is done.

As for the waxy mark, try to remove with a potent paint stripper based on Methylene Chloride. As a first approach you will try just scrubbing it using a natural fiber laundry brush. If after several attempts that won't work, the only alternative would be to use the same stripper in a poultice. All this hoping that the muriatic acid did not alter the makeup of the wax permanently.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,

Maurizio Bertoli
