Cosmos granite

We are looking at a granite that is seemingly the same but has 3 different names, Cosmos, Saturnia and Asterix. It is black and gold and silver. Very beautiful. We did the lemon juice test on 2 samples and they did not discolor. However they seem to scratch very easily in the silver part of the stone. I'm assuming that these samples are not sealed. Do you know about this granite and would it be good for kitchen counters? If so, will sealing help against the scratching? Thank you very much for any help that you can provide. Karen

Dear Karen:

I have not the slightest idea as to what this “granite” is, other than knowing for sure that if that thing is granite I'm from planet Saturn (where this Saturnia thing probably comes from… J ). I don't even know if it can be sealed at all.

Not to mention that I don't even know if those 3 names make reference to the same stone at all…

A sealer for stone protecting the surface from scratches??... And since when?

Such product does not even exist. Better said, it can't even exist, because it would obviously have to be harder than granite. So, unless someone can invent liquid diamond…

If it scratches easily, junk it. As simple as that.

All this confusion wouldn't be there if marblecleaning.org could have its way.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
