Slate Driveways

I am thinking about an 8" bordering a concrete paver driveway with slat. Is that a suitable surface? What thickness should I install? Can it be set in a sand bed like the pavers?

Dear Virginia:

Answering your second question first, the answer is, yes.

As for the suitability of the stone, b y saying slate you're saying very little – if anything at all. There are many different (and I do mean different) kinds of slate that span from dense and (almost) acceptable rocks, to slate that will actually fall apart under running water, and everything in between.

So which slate do you have in mind?

If you choose a roof-grade slate you should be all right.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?   :-)

Ciao and good luck,
