Thassos staining

Q. Hi, I have a thassos tiled bathroom. The slabs are showing yellow patches and in some areas pink. Any ideas? In the past I have used diluted vanish(powder) to remove stains.

A. This is common with many white marbles do to the fact that the stone contains iron. The stone is getting wet and it is rusting. Once you remove the stains and dry the stone I would apply a good stone sealer to protect it.
