Honed marble feels gritty

Q. Why does my honed marble (Imperial Danby) countertop feel gritty, and what is the best way to clean it?

A. There could be several reason your marble feels gritty. First, check to make sure that any seams you may have in the top are not falling apart. If the installer used grout this could be coming out and causing the gritty feeling. Another reason is that the marble may have areas that are breaking down. Take a close look to make sure there are no voids or holes in the top. If there are, this could be the source of the grit. If this is the case they can be filled but you will need a qualified stone pro to do it.

You will want to clean the tops with a good stone safe cleaner like MB Stonecare MB-5 Spray Cleaner.
