soap/hard water build up

Q.Kitchen counter is 1 1/4 inch Peacock Green granite..installed approx 4 1/2 years ago...around the faucet and soap dispenser which constantly seems to get wet, the surface is dull compared to the rest of the countertop ..which has for the most part held up very well..We attempt to dry it off, but would like to know which of your products might help. I was told that possibly the sealer was worn off in this area, but I don't know if I agree. I am not sure if the countertop was sealed, I seem to remember being told that this particular granite: Peacock green really did not need to be sealed, just maintained properly. Should I seal it after getting the soap film/mineral deposit removed. Thank you for your response. Sandy
A.Hi Sandy-Shouldnt need to be sealed as the  this stone is
generally non absorbant.Possibly the moisture is getting in from your soap dispenser and or faucet.More likely it is just what you said soap buildup. You could try a single edged razor blade (but you need to be very careful)held at a 45 degree angle to get rid of the build up.mb-3 works really good as well.you can always call a stone restoration pro and you can find one at www.stoneandtilepros.com
As far as sealing do the water test.Puddle up a palm sized amount of water on your countertop.Wipe it off in 10 minutes and see if you have a darker mark.If you do it needs to be sealed.
