onyx parque floor tile

Q. Will onyx parque floor tile be suitable for a kitchen floor if its placed on 1/2" cement board?

A. Hi-If the subfloor is strong enough to support the stone without any flex the cement board should be fine. You should contact a bona fide stone installer and direct this question to them. On the other hand you should consider
the placement of an acid sensitive stone (calcite) in a kitchen area prior to installing. Onyx is very sensitive to anything acidic (what's not acidic in our kitchens!). You may end up with etch marks which will need a stone refinisher to restore from time to time. Not to mention that onyx is soft and kitchens get mucho traffic so your floor will get work rather quickly.
There are many other easier to maintain products to use.

Do your research and let us know if we can help.
