Tumbled Marbled film

Hi, I had a reddish tumbled marble shower enclosure installed about 6 years ago and it was sealed with HMK matte sealer. It looked great until about 9 months ago when it started small areas of black mold (mostly in the grout) and a white film (and some whitish streaks) showing on almost all the tiles. I tried applying some sealer on a small area and it helps some but doesn't look as good as the floor in the bathroom which had the same stone installed but isn't exposed too much water. Do you sell or recommend any products you think will restore this or do I need a professional to come in and do something? We live in Morris County NJ. Thanks much.

Dear Mark:
When something happens all of a sudden, it does not happen for nothing. If this were a problem of poor housekeeping, you would have contacted me long ago!
I'm afraid that somehow the water found its way behind your tiles, somehow (any grout missing or cracked?...) and what you have is efflorescence. If that's the case, it can't be stopped: the problem has to be solved at its root.
Without actually seeing your installation I can't tell for sure, but your best bet is to consult with a bona fide stone restoration contractor in your area to help assess the real nature o the problem.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm? J

Ciao and good luck,
