Marble Fireplace Mantle Caulking |
Article Number: 1727 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 12:00 AM |
Q. I have a marble fireplace that looks like it needs to be re-caulked. The old caulk has turned yellow and is missing in several places. Water from the chimney wall is coming through where the grout is gone. (I'm dealing w/the chimney problem right now.) Thanks.
A. Recaulking is not going to be a problem but you first need to find out where the water is coming from and fix that problem first. I would check the flashing and the roof for leaks. Once that is repaired you can remove all the old caulk and replace it with new caulk.
