jerusalem limestone spawling

Q.Dear Mr. Bertoli, i have a substantial amount of jerusalem limestone on my exterior patios and walks. it is spawling each year more and more. is there a product i could use that would be color matching and self leveling that can fill the holes? i live in connecticut. i also would like to preserve the stone to stop or slow the rate of spawling. can you reccomend a roll on sealer and a cleaner and a cleaning process to prepare for sealing. thank you for your assistance. sincerely, paul
A.Paul-It is with great sadness that I must inform you that Maurizio passed away last aug the result of a fatal auto accident.
He Spoke alot about stones that were spalling. He was pretty much resigned to the fact that they were failing installations and there was no hope for them. The reason for the spalling is moisture under the stone.I have seen some other installations in ct where thay were placed above underground streams and high water tables which all failed . Maurizio believed that if you seal spalling stone you will only make it worse as the moisture will become trapped and cause the stone to rot faster. As far as filling
I dont think the filler will bond with the rotting stone.
Sorry.
Stu Rosen
