travertine cleaning

Q. I remodeled my home with interior light sand color travertine. I used it in columns in the living room, my bathroom showers and half walls in the baths. The travertine is geting black marks spreading from inside out, not in the grout but in the tiles. The columns are in a dry area. I am also getting it in some areas of the bath. Is this mold in a defected tile? My home is very clean and has no mold or dampness. I cannot afford to have this redone, I paid a lot of money for this. Can it be cleaned. I never sealed the tiles.

A. I can't see this being related to mold at all. It's possible that it is related to the setting material used. If you can send some pics to mail@stoneshine.com I should be able to get you a better answer. Please let me know when the installs were done and what materials were used.

Don't worry that it wasn't sealed. Your problem shouldnt have anything to do with lack of sealer.
