cleaning black honed granite

We have black honed granite countertops and I want to know what I can use everyday to clean/wipe them down? There has been bleach spilled on some spots that turned light so I imagine there is a sealer. Right now I use hot water and dishwashing soap but would like to use something stronger when poultry, etc. is cut/spilled on countertops. Thank you.

Dear Judy:

Probably a stone color-enhancer was applied to your countertop, which was the right thing to do. It is strange that it was damaged by bleach, though. Probably is not the best of the color-enhancers available.

That said, you have to take care of those bleach marks by applying some more of the same product. (Changing brand may not be a good idea, for there could be a compatibility problem between the two products.) After that, for routine maintenance, first you read the free article about using dish soap to clean stone surfaces that you can find by logging on at: http://www.mbstone.com/HH_promo/helpful_hints.htm.

After that, I recommend you to use a good spray cleaner for stone like MB-5. That's all you'll ever need.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
