Choosing a floor that will withstand 4 dogs.

We are looking to redo our floors(about 1000sf,kitchen,dining room, family room, hallways).we currently have ceramic tile.We have four dogs and i cannot keep up with the dirty grout lines.Could we use a honed marble or would that be a mistake?

Dear Lynn:

I've got these 2 equations for you:

  1. 4 dogs + 1 Marble Floor (honed) = 1 Disaster flooring with dirty grout.
  2. 4 dogs + 1 Marble floor (tumbled) = 1 Excellent flooring but still with dirty grout!

Any other questions?... J
