black honed granite

We recently had honed granite countertops installed in my kitchen; We were not aware of the staining issues before doing this. In any case, the kitchen is not quite done and we are trying to decide what, if anything, we need to do about the countertops. We saw your earlier posting suggesting that one should apply an enhancer to decrease the superficial staining risk. Is there a reason to do this right away, or can we wait and see how big a problem we have with superficial stains before deciding about the enhancer? Also, do you have any pictures of what the countertops would look like after we apply the enhancer? Thanks.

Dear Matt:

The last time I checked, there's no law that forces you to apply a stone color enhancer to your countertop right away!…

As for your second question, no, I don't have any picture of a color-enhanced hone-finished black “granite” countertop. I never thought it could be necessary: it is black instead of gray, yet still hone-finished.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
