dark staining on antiqued granite

Hello We moved into a new house a few months ago, and have uba tuba antiqued granite as counter tops. the counter top has gotten very dark in areas of heavy use, by the sink, stove, on the island where my husband works on his computer. I have tried poultices suggested by the installer, but they have not worked. It also gets dark with water, and takes a while to return to normal color. It looks horrible - any suggestions?? thank you!

Dear Jeryn:

Without actually seeing your countertop it's hard to tell if it would be possible to lighten up the darker areas; but if you like the darker color of the darker areas, you could even everything out by applying a good-quality stone color-enhancer resistant to acidic substances like MB-6.

Before making any decision, give it a try with plain water: wet you countertop all over and see if the color becomes uniform. Whatever you see, is what you would be getting permanently with a color-enhancer.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
