Ring marks on Volga Blue Stone

I had Volga Blue installed in our kitchen two months ago. Prior to fabrication, the fabricator assured me that it would not be sealed. I have only cleaned it with water or MB-5. Today on notice small ghost stains that appear brownish around the edges. MB-5 will not remove them. I also put lemon juice on another area with and no marks resulted. What is this, and what should I do? Up to now I have not had any problems.

Dear Susan:

Well, maybe your fabricator could not resist and applied an impregnator to that stone anyway and a few spots an invisible film was left behind… (Just a wild guess.)

Try removing those “ghost stains” with some acetone and a “00” steel wool pad. You may need some serious elbow-grease, but there's no way that you possibly scratch that stone with the steel-wool.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,

Mauri zio Bertoli
