Lemon juice etching on limestone counter

From reading on your site I believe I have confirmed that a guest etched our honed limestone counter (13x13s)with lemon juice from the bottom of a platter.It's an arching line about 1/4 " wide, 10"long, confined to one tile. Being much softer than other materials, should I start with finer sandpaper and maybe progress to 600 grit or finer before resealing?

Depending on the severity of the etching you could get away with probably 240 grit. But what seems to be the problem? It the 240 won't cut it, you can always go back to 120, right?

And as far as the 600 grit is concerned, there's no saying: when you see that you (almost) match the original finish, you're done – no matter what grit you're at.
